Soulja Boy Doesnt Wanna Improve Himself

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Soulja BoyA few weeks ago we told you about the feud between O.G triple O.G Ice T and Mr. Crank that Soulja Boy. If you didn’t catch it, Ice T came out and said that Soulja Boy was “single-handedly killing Hip-Hop”, and also added that Mr. Crank That should “eat a dick”. At the time we disagreed with the way Ice T came across, but after hearing what Soulja Boy told MTV we might have to rethink things.

Soulja Boy recently told MTV that he did not wanna improve his lyrical skills, he said:

“If I wanted to, [I could] go that route and be respected [not for] my success … respected [for] my music and my lyrics or whatever.”That’s why I did the mixtape that I did. I did a mixtape called ‘Teen of the South’ with Dj Scream. And I did that just to step my game up a little bit on that [lyrical] side. But I wasn’t really going into no album and just full-fledge trying to switch my swagger and try to get respect from the game.”

Soulja Boy seems to have a small chip on his shoulder. He followed that statement with adding:

“‘Cause why would I show love to the game? The game don’t show you love back. So I wasn’t gonna do that and come back out and mess up my image and mess up myself. I was going on the strength that I want respect from people who probably don’t like me anyway. So I’m gonna stick to what I do and stay being successful and I’ll do some mixtapes and some futures, something like that.”

Does he not realize that the “game” is what is putting food on his table every night. That’s like a rookie going into the league and saying that he isn’t gonna get better, that he is good and wants to keep his rookie image. If you a true artist like Jay Z, Bun B, Nas, or even the late great 2pac and Biggie, your fans will jam you anyway. We here at randomgossip.com have to agree with Ice T on one thing, and that is if what Soulja Boy feels is the way other young artists feel then Hip-Hop will die a slow painful death. Thank God that isn’t the case!

Jay Z Topping Charts While Being Sued

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Right now the main course for Hip Hop is beef, and apparently Jay Z is hungry. It seems Jay Z caught some controversy from Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher. Gallagher made his voice heard by criticizing event organizers for allowing Jay Z to headline the Glastonbury festival. Jay Z got back at Gallagher by preforming his own version of the Oasis song “Wonderwall” and following that up with a brilliant performance of “99 Problems.” If we were Noel Gallagher we wouldn’t stand for it. Yes we are instigating. Here’s the performance:

In other Jay Z news, Celeste Williams was the first petitioner in a class action lawsuit filed against Jay Z’s 40/40 Club. She is saying that while employed at the club she received under minimum wage pay and was not paid for overtime hours. How did she not know how much she was making when she started? We’re confused!! Her lawyer Maimon Kirschenbaum made this statement: “This is a good day for restaurant workers all over the city.” He is also reaching out to other club workers and have them join Ms. Williams on the suit. Personally we feel this is just another attempt to extort money from a celebrity. The truth always comes out in the end and we will keep you posted.

Paying For Death Row

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Death Row Suge KnightLegendary Death Row Records has been auctioned to Susan Berg for a cool $24 million. This came after Suge Knight was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2005 after a lawsuit required him to pay former partner Lydia Harris $107 million in profits owed. Berg now controls all recordings from Death Row including artists like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and the late great Tupac Shakur. She also acquired 20 unreleased Tupac songs. Lucky!!

Dr. Dre and Afeni Shakur were in fights for the rights of songs by Dre and Tupac, but have yet to comment on the way things will go with new owner Berg. Death Row Records has been home to some of hip hop’s greatest albums like Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle. Great music came from Death Row and hopefully with Suge out of the way it can get back to where it was.
