Soulja Boy Doesnt Wanna Improve Himself

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Soulja BoyA few weeks ago we told you about the feud between O.G triple O.G Ice T and Mr. Crank that Soulja Boy. If you didn’t catch it, Ice T came out and said that Soulja Boy was “single-handedly killing Hip-Hop”, and also added that Mr. Crank That should “eat a dick”. At the time we disagreed with the way Ice T came across, but after hearing what Soulja Boy told MTV we might have to rethink things.

Soulja Boy recently told MTV that he did not wanna improve his lyrical skills, he said:

“If I wanted to, [I could] go that route and be respected [not for] my success … respected [for] my music and my lyrics or whatever.”That’s why I did the mixtape that I did. I did a mixtape called ‘Teen of the South’ with Dj Scream. And I did that just to step my game up a little bit on that [lyrical] side. But I wasn’t really going into no album and just full-fledge trying to switch my swagger and try to get respect from the game.”

Soulja Boy seems to have a small chip on his shoulder. He followed that statement with adding:

“‘Cause why would I show love to the game? The game don’t show you love back. So I wasn’t gonna do that and come back out and mess up my image and mess up myself. I was going on the strength that I want respect from people who probably don’t like me anyway. So I’m gonna stick to what I do and stay being successful and I’ll do some mixtapes and some futures, something like that.”

Does he not realize that the “game” is what is putting food on his table every night. That’s like a rookie going into the league and saying that he isn’t gonna get better, that he is good and wants to keep his rookie image. If you a true artist like Jay Z, Bun B, Nas, or even the late great 2pac and Biggie, your fans will jam you anyway. We here at randomgossip.com have to agree with Ice T on one thing, and that is if what Soulja Boy feels is the way other young artists feel then Hip-Hop will die a slow painful death. Thank God that isn’t the case!

Teams Missed Out On Douglas-Roberts

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Chris Douglas-RobertsChris Douglas-Roberts probably was the most overlooked college player in this year’s NBA draft. While his fellow teammate, point guard Derrick Rose went number one, Douglas-Roberts dropped all the way to the 40th spot. New Jersey selected the 6 foot 7 guard, and may have gotten a steal in the draft. Along side Yi Jianlian, Bobby Simmons, Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson, the New Jersey Nets are looking good going into the 2008-2009 season. Douglas-Roberts wasn’t even a little bit upset about where he was picked, he said this: “I could have ended up on the Lakers, you know? Somewhere like that, where there’s no playing time.” He was then ask if he had a chip on his shoulders, and he told ESPN: “Big. Big chip. Big. That’s the biggest motivation I have. Getting picked 40, I’m gonna write a book.”

Douglas Roberts was part of the Memphis Tigers team that went 38-2 (including the tournament), and averaged 18.1 points per game last season. Douglas-Roberts came out to say that he didn’t workout for all the NBA teams, and when the draft got around the 15 to 25 pick he knew he wouldn’t be selected. We don’t understand that decision, because we think that you would want to try out for every team so everyone knows about you. He might have ended up in a great place, but for younger players trying to make it to the NBA, shop yourself everywhere. Don’t limit yourself to just a few teams.
