There’s more to this story than what’s being told… of course!

Tila Tequila, real name Tila Nguyen, says Shawne Merriman choked her and held her in his home against her will.  She called the police around 3:45 am Sunday morning and Merriman was arrested on a citizen’s arrest signed by Tila.  Shawne went to jail, while Tila was transported to the hospital.

The San Diego Chargers linebacker denies any wrongdoing and says he was trying to prevent Tila from harming herself.  That sounds questionable already.  It gets better though.  In a statement to FOXSports, Merriman had this to say:

“On September 6, 2009 the San Diego Sheriff’s Department responded to a citizen’s complaint that was initiated by Tila Nguyen (aka Tila Tequila). I was taken into custody based upon that complaint. At the time, I was concerned about her welfare given the intoxicated state she appeared to be in and I encouraged her to stay until safe transportation could be provided. We would all do our best to help a friend if we considered their actions to be detrimental to their personal safety. I in no way caused any harm to Ms. Nguyen, however, paramedics were called and she was examined but no injuries were reported. She was released and has since returned to Los Angeles, California. There have been no charges filed against me. I want to thank the San Diego Sheriff’s Department for their professionalism. I will continue to cooperate fully with the Department, and I look forward to clearing my name regarding these false allegations. I want to put this behind me so I can continue to focus on a successful season for the San Diego Chargers.”

Now, that sounds even more questionable.  “…until safe transportation could be provided” was probably something more like, “B**ch if you don’t sit your crazy ass down and wait for a cab…”  I mean come on… you know that’s how it went.

So basically, he’s saying that she was intoxicated and he was just trying to keep her at his home until said “safe transportation” arrived.  Tila took to her Twitter page to defend herself, saying:

“I am allergic to alcohol. It has been publicly known for years. That is how I got the name Tila ‘Tequila’ cuz the irony. I can’t drink.”

We thought that was crazy interesting, and basically discounts Shawne’s story entirely.  We kept digging and found the police report, in which the officers each describe Ms. Nguyen as “intoxicated.”  So now we’re thinking ok, “intoxicated” doesn’t necessarily mean alcohol was involved.  She must be on something else then, right?  The officers at the scene, Mr. Merriman, and the other people at the house all say she was intoxicated, she says she wasn’t drunk.  So if she’s telling the truth and she wasn’t “drunk” then what was she on?

Tila tweeted this morning saying, “The truth will set you free. … God is with me.” We hope so…
