Legendary Death Row Records has been auctioned to Susan Berg for a cool $24 million. This came after Suge Knight was forced to file for bankruptcy in 2005 after a lawsuit required him to pay former partner Lydia Harris $107 million in profits owed. Berg now controls all recordings from Death Row including artists like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and the late great Tupac Shakur. She also acquired 20 unreleased Tupac songs. Lucky!!
Dr. Dre and Afeni Shakur were in fights for the rights of songs by Dre and Tupac, but have yet to comment on the way things will go with new owner Berg. Death Row Records has been home to some of hip hop’s greatest albums like Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle. Great music came from Death Row and hopefully with Suge out of the way it can get back to where it was.
