What’s with everybody pleading guilty? Shoot, you better take me to trial! Ok, we’ll stop playin.
In a Los Angeles court Tuesday, 47 year-old retired NBA star Dennis Rodman plead guilty to a host of charges including spousal battery, brandishing a deadly weapon, and dissuading a witness. Rodman was sentenced to 3 years probation, 45 days community service, and one year of domestic violence and anger management classes. The Worm won’t serve any jail time.
The charges stem from an April 30 incident at a hotel involving his girlfriend Gina Peterson. Authorities say Peterson called hotel security and claimed that Rodman was abusing her. Peterson reportedly suffered injuries to her arm. Rodman was arrested, yet he and Peterson continued to date. Rodman’s spokesman, Darren Prince, says the incident occurred after The Worm had too much to drink.
Tuesday’s ruling was apparently good news to Rodman. Prince had this to say today: “Dennis is happy he can put this misdemeanor charge behind him and get on with his life and career.” We think it’s funny that Prince refers to it as a “misdemeanor charge,” basically downplaying the seriousness of the crime. Is domestic violence a passive thing now days? Ahh, it’s just a misdemeanor Dennis, no harm no foul. WTF??
